Letter to you...
Hi,
Welcome to my site. I’m really glad you’re here.
A little about me.
I’m a native Californian first-generation Mexican-American artist, and music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Covina, always performing, always singing, always chasing whatever melody was stuck in my head that day. I signed my first recording contract when I was nine years old. (I also did it by singing a "Cheetah Girls" song- who knew that would be the "in") I just knew I loved it and I wasn’t afraid of the work.
My background is layered. I’ve trained in musical theater and classical music, but I’ve also lived in pop, rock, punk, and Spanish songs. I never felt like I fit neatly into one genre, and eventually I stopped trying. My music is raw, sometimes messy, sometimes sharp, but always honest.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to perform across Europe, China, and the Philippines, and to step onto Off-Broadway stages during college. In 2019, I released my debut EP, Little Bird, a guitar- and piano-driven project that felt like the first real snapshot of who I was becoming. I toured Southern California behind that release, playing rooms like Genghis Cohen and Silverlake Lounge, while juggling school, promotion, and ghostwriting for other independent artists behind the scenes.
More recently, a creative partnership with legendary visual artist Ioannis Vasilopoulos opened a new chapter for me. Through that collaboration, I connected with producer Val Garay and Nic TenBroek, shaping my latest album, "You’re So Vain, But These Songs Are Still About You". Working with incredible musicians like Jake Reed, Sean Hurley, Creighton Despard, and mastering engineer Eric Boulanger pushed me to grow in ways I hadn’t before. The sound leans into sharp, hook-driven pop-rock, but at its core, it’s about vulnerability. It’s about saying the thing you’re not supposed to say and letting that truth carry the song.
Along the way, I’ve also become more intentional about the business side of being an artist. Through Co- Founding Impact Ventures International, I’ve learned to see my work not just as songs, but as intellectual property, as legacy, as something that can be built strategically and sustainably. That perspective has empowered me to approach my career with both heart and structure, protecting the art while also building it in a way that lasts.
If you’re here, I hope you’ll take some time to explore, to listen, and maybe to find a piece of your own story in mine.
Thank you for being here.
Kelly Grandmaison
